PETER JACQUEMYN ( Bass)
Peter Jacquemyn (1963° schaarbeek) moves easily between the visual arts and music. As a sculptor he assaults tree trunks with axe and chainsaw. His concerts are just as spectacular: with unbridled energy he lovingly wrestles his double bass.
It is a battle in which all means are fair: bows (1, 2 or 3), dented soda cans, plastic bags, crumpled paper, mutes, horns, retuned strings,.
All of this ranges Peter Jacquemyn among Belgium’s most interesting improvisers with a very justified international reputation.
SOFIA KAKOURI
Performance Artist
Grew up in Heraklion of Crete where she started to dance at the age of 3. She awarded two prizes for the contemporary dance category by the National Contest: Terpsixoris Erga (2003+’04). She graduated from the Hellenic State School of Dance KSOT in 2010.
Over the last 12 years she’s is based in Brussels where she’s exploring and developing her personal approach of dancing and performing. Based on the inter-relationships and the combination of body movement and sound, she’s playing pocket-trumpet, vocals and objects. She’s making experimental and improvisation performances in collaboration with musiciens, multimedia artists and collectives.
She had the chance to perform with artists such as:
Peter Jacquemyn (Be), Audrey Lauro (Fr), Lazara R.Albear (Cuba), Carlo Mascolo (It), Vincent Caers (Be), Klaas Verpoest (Be), Jin Young Park (Korea), Geraldo Si (Br), Gunda Gottschalk (Ge), Carlo Zingaro (Po) among others. She is part of several collectives: Brussels Improvisers Orchestra, WORP, ZO!, Zonneklopper, Dance Kapot.
She performed at festivals and venues such as:
KANAL-Brut Pompidou, WIELS, TicTac Art center (BxI), SMAK (Gent), FreeFlowFest (It), Share Impro ZCLAM (Fr), Seoul Dance center & Nam June Paid art center (Korea), |K| & K3 Hamburg, ORT Wuppertal, Room service – Rhenania (Ge), International FilmFest. Rotterdam (NL), Summer Bummer (Antwerp).
